How can i extend my Ethernet LAN cable Networking & Security
0Does any one have any idea how can i extend my ethernet cable beyond 100 meters between my computer and router/modem? According to my knowledge is concern the maximum size of an ethernet cable length comes around 100 meters. So ant information related to this issue would be appreciated.
You can extend your ethernet cable beyond 100 meters by adding a switch or a hub in between of both ends.
You can also opt for Ethernet Extenders. Ethernet Extenders are also known as network extenders which are used to extend an Ethernet segment beyond its normal distance limitation of 100 meters.
Recently I connected my Laptop & my PC via a straight ethernet cable. I used the ip adress 192.168.1.2, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, default gateway 192.168.1.3 for my PC & 192.168.1.3, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, default gateway 192.168.1.2 for my Laptop. At first when I need to backup my data to PC, Both system behaved well connected & I transfered all my data to PC. But after formatting my laptop when I try to transfer data again to my Laptop from my PC, it doesnt work any more. Actually it connects for only some 30 secs- 1 min & at the middle of transfer the conection breaks. It shows the message that it couldnt find the network path. I disabled my Antivirus firewall & my windows firewall both, but still the problem persists. somebody pls help..
Connecting two computer’s without a switch or hub, needs a Cross cable and not a straight cable… Also try to crimp the RJ45 connectors again, seems a bit loose… Also give only IP address and subnet mask, Gateway is not required. Will not do any harm but still… All the best!

Does it hurt to always crimp Cat-5e crossover cables to be compatible with Gigabit UTP Ethernet?
1Question : Does it hurt to always crimp Cat-5e crossover cables to be compatible with Gigabit UTP Ethernet?
I’m new to the world of crimping cables, and have studied hard and learned familiarity with the specialised skill of properly wiring Cat-5/Cat-5e cables for straight-through and crossover applications. It’s all rather simple, actually, as long as one has the right tools such as a decent tester and crimper as well non-shoddy modular connectors and cabling. Cat-6[a/e] isn’t much more complicated, although a bit fiddly, what with the centre divider and tighter tolerances.
However, it appears that Gigabit UTP Ethernet crossover cables require the other pairs to be crossed over as well, meaning simple T568A/T568B wiring will no longer suffice. It’s all quite simple, but my question is whether there is any reason not to wire up *all* Cat-5e/Cat-6[a/e] crossover cables to be compatible with Gigabit UTP crossover requirements. After all, most modern good-quality Cat-5e cabling is quite up to handling Gigabit speeds, and is commonly used for that.

CAT6 cables are rated for the speed of gigabit. But top grade CAT5E would work as well. Check your connection between your computer and router and see if it says 1000Mbps instead of 100Mbps. If it says 100 you need a CAT6 cable.
Otherwise your setup should be fine.
Ethernet Cable Connector?
0Question : Ethernet Cable Connector?
Is there any type of device that can hook two ethernet cables together and still have two ends? Because my dad won’t let me buy a bigger ethernet cable or wireless adapter for my xbox 360, but I do have two cables that if joined will be more than enough to fit my xbox, so if there is such a device please tell me the name, brand, and where I can buy one. Also, please add if it will work with an xbox 360. Thanks!

How do I insert the loading bar into the plug on an RJ45 ethernet cat 6 plug?
0Question : How do I insert the loading bar into the plug on an RJ45 ethernet cat 6 plug?
I bought the plugs (male connectors) that come with the loading bar, but the holes in the bar don’t match up with the holes in the plug. I bought them together in a package, so they shouldn’t be mismatched. Am I missing something, or did I just buy a faulty product? They exact name is: CAT 6 RJ-45 MODULAR PLUG UL RATED W/ LOADING BAR by PAN PACIFIC.
