Now, let’s say that you are a VOIP provider. You provide the software. You provide the connection to the phone system… YOU MAKE THE MONEY on the telephone company’s work. You are cheaper and you are KICKING BUTT on the telephone company’s former success.
BUT, the VOIP company can only sell to people that already have high speed internet. VOIP companies do not maintain any wires or telephones. So only smart people can use your service. Some VOIP companies provide the Telephone adapter kit, like Vonage, so the have to charge more than Skype.
I have had Vonage now for 2 years… it is totally awesome.

My friend recently got contact lenses from korea. These contact lenses are much smaller than normal ones. These contacts only fit over the pupils and helps a lot with dried eyes.

I understand the cost is lower, but how about reliabilty and quality? Also, our internet is through the phone company so how does that affect the price? Thanks! (We use Skpe for international calls but I don’t know about domestic calls.)

Skype is hard to beat for for long distance calling. If you already use Skype from your PC you can’t beat it for USA/Canada domestic calling if you purchase “Skype Unlimited”. For $ 29.95 you get unlimited USA/Canada calling for 1 full year. If you get the Skype CIT-400 adapter and phone, you can do it without turning on your PC.
But, Skype is not a “home phone replacement service” – they do not have 911 emergency calling and advise as such.
For home phone replacement service there are “numerous” to choose from. I use InPhonex as my home phone replacement service because they provide 911 in Canada (where I live), even though InPhonex is a USA company.
I also use CallCentric a lot, which I like (but no 911 in Canada).
Packet8 may be a good choice, too.

Call quality is an ongoing debateable issue. Many factors affect call quality.
If you have at least 1.5 Mbs HighSpeed Internet with your phone company, but you still have to pay them for your regular phone, it would be redundant to have full service VoIP at same time as regular phone (just keep using Skype for long distance instead).
However, if you want to pull the plug on your phone company (like I did), then try highspeed Internet service with your cable company (if you have one). Then, with cable and a VoIP full service company, it is possible to completely pull the plug on Ma Bell (or AT&T). Actually, AT&T has a VoIP service too, called “AT&T CallVantage” (could be worth a look).
So, there are many options – just depends on your strategy and what you really want to do.
Oh, yes there is also the issue of 911 access during power outages….

How much more energy does a Plasma TV consumer compared to a LCD TV? Everyone says Plasma consumes more energy than a LCD, but by how much? Twice as much as a LCD? Newer versions of plasmas are now ‘Energy Certified”, does that mean they still consumer more energy than LCD, but overall, does not take that much compared to a traditional CRT TV?

A CRT TV uses a lot of energy. The initial power up takes a big jolt and from there it sustains itself while wasting more energy. Think of it as a Incandescent light bulb, putting out heat. When that wasted energy on heat could be used to help output more lumens. I don’t know much about plasmas because I don’t think they will be around much longer, once laser diode TVs are developed that is. Laser diode TVs are still being researched, but once created they will be as brilliant as a plasma and as long lasting as a LCD TV (liquid crystal display).
To find out the wattage you need to use the equation P=I*E
“P” is equivalent to Power “I” is equivalent to Current and “E” is equivalent to voltage. “P” is expressed in Watts, “I” is expressed in Amps and “E” is expressed in Volts.
Standard wall outlets put out about 120 Volts of Alternating current. All you need to know is how much amps this unit consumes. Look on the back of the TV and it should give you an amp reading. Multiply this number by 120V and you should get your answer in Watts. Keep in mind that Sometimes Amps are expressed in mAh (milli amperes)
So an old CRT TV would consume a lot more power compared to a LCD flat screen tv of the same size. An LCD is energy efficient just like those weird Compact Flourescent Light bulbs.

They don’t hurt, but it’s true that gas perms aren’t as comfy as soft. If your eye doctor recommends them, I’d say give gas perms a try.
