Try to find the DTS sampler. This has clips from movies like – Hero, I Robot, Kill Bill, Day after tomorrow etc and some good music videos in surround. Perfect disc to test/demonstrate a home surround sound.
There are some other similar discs too available in the market. Search on the internet and you’ll find many (including from THX and various other electronics companies)

I like the second chapter of “Star Trek: First Contact” because in about 6 minutes you get male & female voices, music, special effects.
The Lobby shoot-out scene in the original “Matrix” movie can bring some systems to their knees with many minutes of low-frequency sounds. (Lots of systems went into ‘protect’ mode when this movie came out.)
