Will Windows XP Power Management work with DVR Software?
Question : Will Windows XP Power Management work with DVR Software?
I have some DVR software installed on a PC I leave on all the time (BeyondTV if you need to know). I schedule many shows to download, but mostly in the evenings or at night. Can I tell Windows XP to turn off my hard drives after 15 minutes of inactivity? Will Windows turn the hard drive back on when my DVR software starts to record a show (and subsequently convert the recording to DivX)?
I’m basically just worried that if I tell Windows to turn off my hard drives, they won’t be turned back on when the software wants to use them. Wouldn’t be much point to automatically recording my shows if I had to move the mouse around just to get the hard drives spinning.

yes you can set it to that and windows will turn it back on but you will get a delayed recording. only by how long it takes for the drives to start up. normally like 5 seconds.
but incase im wrong which i doubt it. set a recording and find out.
