No, it’s not. Flutes are professional instruments, pretty complex and normally quite costly. Recorders are cheap plastic children’s instruments. Maybe you could get some gift certificate for a music store so she can get a flute lower than the normal price, without you having to pay the full price. A recorder might irritate her a little.

Well if you include a cute note about how you wanted to get her a flute but all you could afford was the recorder it should be fine, but just giving her a recorder when you know she wants a flute is so not ok. If you don’t want to do that then you could get all your friends to chip in and buy her a flute like you know a big combination gift.

uhm i guess it depends on how long youve been together also? if you do do that.. i would do something incredable cute alone with it. like write someone from your heart or something. if you can’t afford to get her the flute thenn just get her something you think she would like.. its from you.. her girlfriend sooo either way shes going to like it.
