how much would a small boutique in san fransisco pay for phone service of one or 2 lines ?
just give me a ball park estimate, im not actually looking into getting the phone service

I’m in Ohio, but I’d be happy to pick a number out if a hat for you….
Try calling Pac Bell or whatever they go by these days, then use the internet to find out who services the shop with alternative dial tone and call those people.
You can figure out what AT&T would charge…sort of, because the $ 48 does not include “fees and taxes”. https://connect.att.com/apps/sbot/forward.byoblocalrelaxconfig.action. The regulated fees will choke you.

the price is going to vary based on many factors…
are you going to be using a landline? I would say aprox. $ 45 to $ 50 per line if not more…
are you going to be using VoIP? you can get IP phones with hosted PBX for around $ 50 per extension for unlimited channels.. this would require internet service…
are you going to be using your cable company? they average about $ 30 per line.. internet service is normally required from the cable company for them to provide voice service for you..

You will need to contact your local TELCO for line prices. Also check with your local Cable company. Many of them are now providing telephone service as well.
Stay away from Magic Jack. The service is too unreliable for a business application.
