The core of a touch screen computer is the special monitor that detects where you touch. The monitor then sends the x,y of where you touch to the operating system as a simulated mouse event. So as far as the computer knows, your finger is the mouse. Having said this you can continue to use the current desktop as it is and just plug a mouse in and have at it. You never specified what operating system you are using and what ‘desktop’ means. I am assuming that you have something like the HP desktop or similar. There is probably a program that runs on startup that shows you this ‘desktop’. Stopping that program from starting with the operating system will probably show you the default desktop.
EDIT: So from your additional comments I am getting the bigger picture here. Firstly I am making the assumption that English is not your native language and that is why there is some confusion here? If it is I apologize. Secondly, we are talking about two different things. Now, if I am to make some assumptions this is what I think you meant to ask: Can I use my touchscreen monitor with another computer? If that is your question then there is almost no doubt, unless there is some proprietary plug that the monitor uses, you will be able to use the monitor with any other computer provided that the other computer has the appropriate connector. DVI, VGA, HDMI, etc… Goggle each to find some images of the connectors at different angles and compare to what you have.
