Question : Anyone know of an economical cell phone rental service that will work in China and Taiwan? I’m from the US.
Am traveling in two weeks. Need some options for reliable and decently priced companies. Hopefully that’s allowed on here. Thanks!

If you already have a GSM phone, just get a SIMS card and you are in business…Otherwise, you can get a Mobal phone that will work almost anywhere in the world for $ 99, without having to replace the card. The catch: incoming and outgoing calls are on the expensive side. The pros: you keep your number forever so people can call you at the same number wherever you are in the world where the phone works. A good and cheap way is also to get the cheaper Mobal phone (you get a motorola for $ 50, not the sexiest and smartest model but it is functional and you can send sms as well), which comes with a SIMS card that works almost everywhere in the world. When you arrive in China, just buy a SIMS card for 100CNY (rechargeable) and put it in your phone…that’s it…you got yourself a GSM phone for $ 50…

why not use Global7? Its a net-to-phone service. But its very cheap. It only charges USD0.0089 to call China. And It gives u a US phone number. What you need to do is to bring a laptop and use internet in some cybercafe. That’s it.
