What should I use to record phone conversations on my computer?
Question : What should I use to record phone conversations on my computer?
I want to be able to record phone conversations, especially when making a verbal deal with companies so I have a legal leverage should they not respect the deal we agreed on. I want to be able to simply record these conversations on the computer. What software/hardware do you recommend?

Audacity is a free audio recording program you can download at http://audacity.sourceforge.net
You may want to check the laws in your state to make sure that you are able to record the conversations.

You’ll first have to find a way to connect your phone line audio to your computer sound card. That will take either a voice modem or a PBX card with external audio output.
Then use Audacity. If the law in your state requires it, you’ll have to have a beep sounding every so often (15 seconds, 30 seconds, etc.) You may also have to say that the call is being recorded. (Check your local laws.)
