Question : how do you get applications for the samsung instinct if it’s already flashed to metro pcs?
i bought a samsung instinct and i noticed my internet was not working, so i got it flashed, and im trying to get the messenger app so i can instant message(aim,yahoo,msn) so how do i get the app for free when its already flashed to metro pcs? please help and thank you

The easiest way, and the best way for someone who is asking this question in the first place, is to look for a Rumkin jump code in the thread discussing the app. If there is a jump code, then all you need to do is:

Open the web browser on your phone
Enter the following URL: http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/jump.php
tap on the jump code box and enter the code
tap on “Download”
A dialog will pop up asking if you want to download untrusted content, and you will have to agree to that.
If you want to run it later, you will find it on the phone in the Games/Apps area under “Fun”

If the Rumkin code isn’t working, then you may try these more complicated steps (thanks waterbound, I borrowed and added to your posting for this)

ON YOUR COMPUTER, download the .jar file usually located in the first message of the thread discussing the app (sometimes it will be in zip file with a .jad file, which also might be needed)

Go to this site http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/index.php
(or one of the other upload sites if Rumkin isn’t working – search for Rumkin and you will find lots of alternatives, like http://www.gtoal.com/pcs/ or http://pcs.cruz-network.net/ or http://***** )
Scroll down to Upload Java Midlets
Enter the cell phone number, browse to the .jar file and upload midlet.
In a few minutes you will get a text message, open it and click on the link
You will get a choice to browse to the location, select browse..
You will be prompted to download the application, allow it to download
If you want to run it later, you will find it on the phone in the Games/Apps area under “Fun”
