Question : How do I use my optical cable with my dual monitor set up?
I received an optical cable with my new HD monitor which I am using as a second screen for my computer. Is there any way to hook up the optical cable and play music from my computer through the monitor’s speakers? Thanks.

Chances are you would have to buy an expensive soundcard which has an optical socket. Would be good sound quality though I guess.
Well….only if your motherboard has an optical audio connection in the back. Most new boards do but I am not sure about older ones…..
Otherwise, you’ll have to buy a sound card to do the trick. The cheapest Creative sound card with a n optical connection is the $ 45 X-fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express card on newegg.com
