If cost is all you are looking for, then I would say Walgreens. I saw a 256 meg, for 12.99. Of course, it’s battery-powered, but it’s still cheap. You could go to amazon.com, and possibly find it cheaper, but then you’d have to wait 2 weeks or so, and pay shipping which wil decrease your savings to maybe two dollars. If I were you, instead of giving out my credit card info, I’d just go to Walgreen’s.

Any retail store like Circuit City or Best Buy. If you want a decent 1GB player, get a Sandisk 1GB Sansa.
It can hold about 250 songs on average, has an FM radio, and an internal microphone for voice recording. It works off of a single AAA battery, so you don’t have to recharge at a computer when it’s low on power. I think it costs around $ 80-90.
One more thing: DON’T GET AN IPOD. They suck and Apple’s 1GB Nano costs $ 150, and doesn’t come with the radio or recorder. iPods are ALL hype and marketing.
