Question : Internet speed question! Charter bundle service.?
I am using a charter bundle service (internet+cable+phone), and internet speed is supposed to be 5mb, according to charter. But ever since I got my second computer, and hooked it up to the internet (now i got two computer hooked up to the internet at the same time with router), the internet speed has become awfully slow, as if I was using a dial-up. Why? What can be done to increase the speed?

First thing i’d try is unplugging the power to the cable modem and router for about 30 seconds or so and see if that will speed it up. If not make sure who ever is using the second computer isn’t downloading all sorts of stuff.
Let me know if this doesn’t work.
You might want to try a few things:
Check the speed of the router and its age, older routers dont do too well with new CAT6e cable if you bought it.
Secondly, do some basic maintenance on the host computer. Disk cleanup, disk defragment, registry cleaner, etc. It will speed things up.
It sounds to me like a hardware issue.
