the new york institute of photography home study?
Question : the new york institute of photography home study?
Has anyone taken or heard of this program? It looks interesting. Will I learn more in an actual class, rather than from the home study?
How much is tuition..I looked on the internet but they said I’d have to have the info mailed to me..I’m waiting on that. Is there anything anyone can tell me about it while I wait for the mail? Thanks.

Well they have been in business since 1910 so they are obviously reputable.
The advantage of a correspondence course is you go at your own pace and its less disruptive of your normal schedule.
The disadvantage is its “self-directed” which requires perhaps a little more self- discipline. The feedback takes a little longer than in a normal classroom setting. With email of course there’s less delay.
I took that course in 1967 while working on a job at Cape Canaveral, Fla. In my opinion, it was a very good and complete course, properly paced and easy to follow. I had some background in chemistry and physics which helped but I don’t believe that lacking those would have been to my detriment. I’m sure the course has changed to keep up with current developments, but if they’ve maintained their standards, I highly recomment it.
