Question : How do you know when to replace the lamp on a digital projector?
Hi. I bought a projector second hand the other day, worked great for about a week. Now when I turn on the projector the lamp hisses and only stays illuminated for a few seconds before going black. I’ve also blown a few fuses when turning on the lamp. The lamp has 500 hours left on it (out of 1000). Does this sound like a lamp issue or some type of short circuit? Thanks.

IT’s YOUR LAMP….replace it.

Lamps don’t last EXACTLY 6000 hours….they generally die by 5200 hours.

And if you keep powering up that bad lamp, you’re going to BLOW the BALLAST on it….

That’s about $ 160.00 more to replace that…..
