Whats the disadvantages for buying a DLP tv Mitsubishi besides the depth of it rather than a LCD flat panel? Would it be good to play ps3 and xbox on it?

I have a 57in Mitsubishi and it is perfect for Hi Def gaming! The dlp will give you better black levels and a rich color pallet. By the way i also play ps3 and 360 on it for hours a day and you will not be unhappy with the picture. Blue ray is wonderful showing off at 1080p. No, it’s not flat so you can hang on the wall but the performance is so good i was willing to deal with it just sitting on a nice stand. The newer models are 3d ready if you’re into wearing the shades. I have had mine for 2 years and counting but trying to justify getting a larger one. One side note. I have gotten some motion sickness playing first person games but it went away after i go used to it. Happy gaming!
The DLP TV’s that I have seen in the past you had to be a long distance away from the screen other wise it will be like looking at the screen through a fly screen door.
The image is projected onto a screen so it is not as bright as plasma or LCD. Also the image to me did not look as good as plasma and LCD.
I noticed the DLP Mitsubishi have got their mirrors closer together so the fly screen door effect is no longer seen that I could see based on a demo video clip of the TV.
DLP TV’s do have a high operating cost in that the lamp needs fairly frequent replacement (about 2,000 to 5,000 hours from memory) and it is NOT cheap. Find out the price of the lamp.
I would strongly recommend you see the TV in use before buying having a good look at the picture quality and compare that to LCD and plasma TV’s.
In Australia DLP TV’s are dead all the electrical retailers stopped selling them ages ago. No buyer demand even though they were cheaper to buy than LCD and plasma.
