Question : How would I hook up a recorder to a telephone?
Hello,

I’m awful at taking messages. It would be far simpler if right after I say “So-and-so isnt home, can I take a message?” to just press a button, and have whatever their message is be recorded.

I don’t really wanna buy a 200 dollar phone to do this, so is there any way to hook up an oldschool tape-recorder or something to a phone to do this?

There are several attachments you can get at Radioshack which will work for you.

If you already have a tape recorder to use, see if it has a socket labeled “mic” which is for a microphone. If yes, then you can use most of the gadgets they have. If not, you have to use one that plugs into the handset connection of a corded phone, or the phone jack itself.
