Its not a point of anything to hide I personally could care less about it if they hear mine. But it is against our civil rights ….the right to privacy….next what right of yours will you allow them to take from you. Its the old saying you give them and inch they will take a mile….

well, why do go to the bathroom with the door shut. hasn’t everyone seen what you got? you shut the door because you want some things to be private. I don’t turn the man next to me on the bus and say, “my wife cried last night when she and I failed to finish at the same time.”
fascists and judgemental tribunals have always used the “nothing to hide” theory. When george bush lets me see his wife naked, then I will let him see my harddrive. Is that rude to want to see his wife? YES. as rude as it is to want to see my lawabiding harddrive.

It seems to me they would be more upset about child molesters and identity theft. They don’t understand the difference between rights and privileges, and in some, but certainly not all cases, they do have something to hide. Personally, I don’t care. If it stops even one terrorist attack it will be well worth all the pansy-a**ed whining about it.

As to dollface … Read the Constitution! You do not have a right to privacy! As to why people are so upset, many are under the impression that we have a right to privacy and such from the years of political and media erosion of the facts. If they would simply take the time to read and learn for themselves instead of having their information spoon fed, then perhaps the country would not be so screwed up right now.

What sort of protection do we have that this power won’t be abused. Can an NSA employee look up who his girlfriend has been talking to? Can an Administration official look up who the Washington Post has been talking to?
The NSA always had the ability to legally tap phones. They could go to a judge or the FISA court and get a warrent for up to three days afters they tapped a phone line that they needed to tap. When they decided that they did not neeed to obtain warrents (and follow the law) all bets are off.
9/11 could have been prevented with the power the government had. Several people in the FBI new about the terrorists. Bush had a CIA memo titled “Bin Ladin Determined to Strike in the US” that he ignored.
We didn’t fight WWII for a government that spys on its own people. It would be nice if the government would spend it’s energy on figuring out how capture Bin Laden, secure our ports, and seal the border before they bother with monitoring tens of americans calls.

It is very commendable that you have nothing to hide. But that is not even close to being the point.
For centuries we have been protected by the Constitution against “illegal search and seizure”. It is one of the most sacred rights that Americans have been able to enjoy since our Independence. Law enforcement or Government agencies are only allowed such measures if probable cause can be shown and a judge allows them.
But now the Government has began collecting information, tapping phone lines and using other investigative methods WITHOUT a court order. This is the worst kind of invasion of privacy and a 100% violation of our constitutional rights.
What I also find nearly as disturbing is the fact they the terrorists are getting EXACTLY want they wanted. Whether it be illegal detention and torture of SUSPECTED terrorists or tapping and spying on US citizens without due cause, the US Government is becoming just like the regimes it is trying to change.
How are we to convince foreign governments to adopt our system of government when our own officials disregard our Constitution?

Are you really telling me that you would have no problem with the government censoring your speech, or searching your home without a warrant, or refusing you access to an attorney when you are arrested, just because you’ve got nothing to hide?
