You need a wireless receiver connected to your system. Go to any computer shop and get one. Follow the installation manual to get yourself through
In the United States, the largest wireless telephone carriers all have some kind of data network (Internet).
Currently,
SprintPCS is the fastest (EVDO Rev A)
Verizon and ATT is next fastest (EVDO Rev 0)
Others aren’t running CDMA networks, you’ll likely get GPRS which runs at best about half the speed of POTS dialup.
The general rule of thumb is that if the data network is completely rolled out, if you can get a wireless phone signal then the data network should be available, too.
Also, sometimes the wireless phone services augment their normal plans with WiFi plans usually in partnership with businesses (like Starbucks and MacDonalds). And not too far in the future we might see some carrier commit to a rollout of WiMAX and similar technologies.
If you’re in the boonies, also consider satelllite Internet from companies like DirectTV.
