The best place to find cheap lenses is ebay, goodwill and garage sales but you will most likely need an adapter. Most cameras will work fine in aperture priority (AP for Canon, A for everything else) and you won’t get autofocus.

I’ve been on a mission to find old glass. What’s bad for me is that I have fallen in love with a USSR made Helios 40-2 M42 lens and it is not cheap! Luckily I’m shooting with a Canon T2i and it has a huge hole that can fit nearly any adapter. Also, for Canon users, there is an M42 adapter with an EOS chip to confirm focus.

With old manual zooms you`ll have to deal with aberrations and purple fringing. With primes it’s a bit better. I have a super tak 50mm f1.4 prime which I bought for $30, exceptional lens, beautiful glow wide open @ f1.4, suitable for portraits. The canon equivalent sells for $400 ? Too many monkeys have full frame cameras and USM expensive L glass lenses think they’re good photographers, try a camera with a manual lens where YOU (not the camera) have to figure out everything..

@friik182 You are correct, there is a reason modern primes are expensive because in general they are the upper echelon of lenses. The same does not hold true for lenses from the 60s through the 80s back then primes were the status quo which means there are plenty to be found cheaply at secondhand stores and garage sales as people jump from film to digital.

haha, dude, Is that a daddies board shop sticker I see in the background? A fellow longboarder?? haha I was actually planning on getting the Pentax k-x for making some dh/freeriding videos (aspiring to be the next Adam Colton). Do you recommend this camera? it’s my first dslr and I want something moderately inexpensive but something that will still perform. Can this camera do well at high speeds? Maybe with a fig rig to add stability? thanks!
