laptops are great. They offer convenience and flexibility for all that depends on a computer for their living. They are also vulnerable to annoying problems such as I experienced recently. Here are some examples of the saga of my laptop:

Â? I had to open both of my web browser, with a few other applications. How do I Alt-Tab between applications, the Alt-Tab window – one that shows all the pass open for you – frozen front and center on my screen. As I tried valiantly to work, impeded the small window in my view. If I happened close to an instance of my browser, the thing disappeared.

Â? I had a thin line on my screen. It’s like some pixels are missing or something. A few weeks later, another line. If the walk goes on, I think I’ll lose a good portion of my screen at the end of the year.

Â? The battery in less than 2 hours.

So the question I have is the left? Should I upgrade or replace my laptop

The main advantage of the upgrade is cost. Instead of paying for a new machine, I could only be a memory stick for a fraction of the price and hope that solves my problem. Memory is cheap. Rebuilt memory is even cheaper. I know because my computer is old and needs to look around for the right kind of memory, I checked a reseller.

For most people, memory upgrades are enough to boost performance when the performance is the real question.

The potential con update is that it does not solve the problem. So I could end up money for memory and time to figure out how to install it, only to discover that my problem is not resolved

Money is also the main concern when purchasing a new laptop, but in this case, money is a “con”, not “pro”. Replacement costs of the technology may be important for any company, large or small. Yes, it would be nice to a new computer that could effectively handle running multiple applications at once, but it is better to try my luck on a memory upgrade? Is this a new notebook at an affordable price?

If you are in a similar situation as mine and you want an answer to this last question, here are some tips. Look carefully at your current and future needs. Make sure you consider a laptop that has room for expansion, in case you are in this same situation a few years.

It can not hurt to take a look on the secondary market as well. Used and refurbished laptops and new – but with fewer bells and whistles because of their age

Like all technologies, laptops are a blessing and a curse. They make life easier, but they also make it much more expensive. Before you embark on a new purchase for your old laptop, make sure the opportunities to improve research. If you decide to buy, do your homework.
