Are photocopiers in any way dangerous to pregnant women?
Question : Are photocopiers in any way dangerous to pregnant women?
There is a pregnant woman at my work and she is scared that photocopiers might have dangerous radiation or something like that, and it might cause harm to the unborn child. Is her fear in anyway real or does she worry for no reason?

yes it is very harmful for a unborn child.. i was kinko the other day and this lady ran to me and told me to stay away…

What you’re thinking of is that there have been some concerns raised about the TONER used in copiers as it has been suggested that it could be dangerous to the unborn baby.
However you would need to be exposed to the toner dust for a very prolonged period of time before you would reach the alleged dangerous levels. I also work in an office and my Health & Safety dept told me NOT to change the toner cartridge but that I could use the copier as normal without any problem.

Theres no need to worry. For one, photo copiers dont have radiation, I dont know where she got that from. They use light! Anyhow, small amounts of radiation dont cause harm either… like how microwaves are safe to use in pregnancy.
She is probably just very cautious, and thats a good thing, but inform her if you feel it is your place to, that she does not have to be concerned about a copier.
