Contact lens 0.04mm center thickness vs 0.10mm…. is the difference noticeable?>?
Question : Contact lens 0.04mm center thickness vs 0.10mm…. is the difference noticeable?>?
The contact lenses that I’m wearing is 0.04mm centre thickness. Will it feel very different (ie. uncomfortable) if I were to wear lenses that are 0.10mm thick? The water content for my 0.04mm lens is 42%, and 45% for the 0.10mm lens.
Reason being the 0.10mm lens has the color that I want. Just want to know if it’ll be super uncomfortable and unhealthy for my eyes. Many thanks!

Hi, I would worry too much about the centre thickness quoted by the lens companies. The thickness quoted will generally be an average thickness for a -3.00DS lens. If you have a different prescription then the thickness will generally differ (more if you are a +ve prescription).
0.04mm is super thin for a contact lens but 0.10mm is still very thin and combined with the slightly higher water content you shouldn’t have too many problems – it is worth bearing in mind though that the lens material has more effect on the comfort than the thickness, it is likely that the material of these two lenses will be different given their differing thickness and water content.
