Question : How do i get my PS3 to play video’s that i have recorded on my mobile phone?
I have a sony erricson k850i mobile phone with a 2gb m2 memory card. I use an m2 adaptor to put the memory card into my PS3. All my photos come up on the PS3 but none of my video’s. Can anyone tell me a way to get my video’s to play on the PS3. The video’s are in a mp4 format.

it should be working, the ps3 is compatible with .mp4.

Does it not show up at all, or does it say “unsupported data” when you open the memory card icon in the video column of your XMB? I have found that a lot of video and music that are the right file type are listed as unsupported data… it happens more often if it’s a file I create myself.

Is there any kind of copy protection on those cards like they have on SD cards, if so that could be messing with it… if you download it to a PC, then use a simple transcoder to turn it into another compatible file type, or “copy” it back into .mp4, it could remove any such encryption.

I noticed recently that when I use Audacity to transcode midi audio to .mp3, I have to enter information for “Author” and “genre” or the ps3 will not recognize the file format. Maybe there is some similar thing going on with .mp4, if so, a video authoring program could fix that easily enough.

Also, try using a free program like MediaTomb to stream it from your PC. I think the ps3 is less picky about streams than about files.

One other thing about “unsupported data,” sometimes the ps3 just decides to say that about something completely valid, and if you delete it and try again, suddenly it works. Happens to me with music constantly.

If the video isn’t even showing up as “unsupported data, well, it should. Doesn’t make any sense.
