money in their pocket? LOL the phone itself is FREE. the minutes, it depends which state you’re in but it still is FREE. if you’re being provided with FREE 60 or so minutes every month, it’s common sense that if you use up all of those minutes, you’ll have to buy them yourself. There’s no catch here. It’s meant to assist the less fortunate and besides, it’s an emergency. Where’s your brain when you need it? ffs

To all of you non tax paying, no working, tax leaching thugs. You’re welcome. In spite of what the video says, there is a catch. Only the person receiving the phone doesn’t get caught. It’s hard working Americans like me who have to pay for your phone with my tax dollars. Having a phone is a privilege not a right. Sure it sounds wonderful (life liberty and the pursuit of rollover minutes) but in reality it’s just theft

Although many may feel this is an entitlement, this may save the government money when it comes to coordinating welfare or other government services. It’s a basic phone and a basic plan – no frills. Most of us spend loads more on phones much more complex and fancy … let off. Or consider women in domestic abuse situations …. something like this phone could really help out.

So you get a cell phone with your food stamps now?, Not a bad deal. The handicap/unemployed argument does sound valid but I worry that it may be the exception and not the rule. Until I find out more about how strict the requirements are to get one of these I will remain skeptical. For one in the end its government supported so that means I am paying for it and two anything the government is involved in is more often then not rife with corruption and scandal.

really, what good is it for the companies to give away free cellphones and minutes on a nation-wide basis? The companies most definitely arent making all that money back. This is a government promoted experiment, most likely so they know where everybody is at a given time, and knows what they are doing and saying(check out the spy phone software). The company I work for was hired by tracfone to collect data on the lifeline program so I know a bit about what Im talking about the restis speculation

I am a disabled person. I just got one of these today. Speaking on a regular or cellphone is mostly inaccessible to me. With this I will be able to send text messages to the registered nurse, my doctor, and agencies that help me.
I have no intention of abusing this. 68 minutes = 204 text messages a month, way more than I’ll ever need.
Like the fireman said, stop being greedy self absorbed hypocrites.
But for the grace of God go YOU. -

HAAAAAAAAAAA it is NOT free….yet again someone else is paying for it. I just got my Sprint bill…..fine print….they CHOOSE to collect 2.36 from me each month(not taxes) but to pay for yet more programs.
Government programs are sucking the life out of America, pretty soon there will be no welfare checks. -
