How do I know that my toric soft contact lens fit well?
Question : How do I know that my toric soft contact lens fit well?
It is the first time I wear toric lens, and my fiancé went and picked them up for me cause I was really sick and couldn’t go…They just gave him instructions on how to clean and wear them, but they never told him of a fitting…now reading online I see that fittings are required…I wore them today for the first time, vision feels good, sometimes a bit blurry but that might be because I am still not used to them as it is a change of prescription, and never had soft lens before…So I just wanted to know when they talk about fitting a toric contact lens, what do they mean? what do they do to them? Do they re-send the lens to the lab? How long does a fitting take? Should I contact the doc that prescribed them to ask for a fitting? How do I know if they fit correctly and don‘t need any further assistance?
soft contact lens
Best answer:
Toric soft lenses have thick and thin zones on them. When your eye lids run over these zones when you blink, they should stabilise the lens & stop it rotating in your eye.
We cannot measusre the amount of pressure your eye lids will put onto a toric lens, so a fitting is required to see a particular lens in your eye to check the stabilisation.
Sometimes the lens is stable, but your lids rotate the lens. We can re-order that lens, taking the rotation into account.
Did you have a toric lens inserted into your eye before your fiance collected them? This will have been your fitting. You need to be assessed again having worn the lenses for a few hours and report your success / problems.
