Canon Digital Rebel XTi February 12 MP digital SLR camera review
SLR digital consumer camera, one of the best low (er)-end market began my journey with DSLRs in 2003 with the original digital rebel. AFN has changed my photography for the better like nothing else. Five years and some 25,000 shots later, it is still going strong. Along the way, my Canon 30D, which is a fantastic camera and update. If the 40D was announced, I decided to wait until the 50D in the course of 2009, but wanted a new backup / second body for my photography needs. So if XSi/450D was announced, he looked like a perfect fit for my needs. I got it from Amazon. com, three days ago, and they have a very good workout since then, having shot about 650 shots under a variety of shooting conditions and a number of Canon lenses and third. What follows are my impressions. The construction feels very good. The camera feels wonderfully light yet well built. I am 6ft tall with average size hands, and the camera in my hand feels good. The handle is for me defeating a small lightweight digital SLR if I opted for a Hakuba / Opteka grip (it’s a plate that screws into the tripod socket that allows you to strap the excellent Canon E1 hand to use) and I could not be happier. I’m not a fan of neck straps, so that works well for me (see photo uploaded for configuration). Most of the menu buttons on the back feeling different from the original Digital Rebel and 30D, the keys xsi tactility and a “click” for when you press it. The only exception are the Exposure Lock (*) and AF selector buttons, which have retained the deeper, softer cameras earlier. Just different, not better or worse for me. The LCD is now 3 “with 230K pixels. Playback pictures look good, and probably because of the higher resolution sensor, there is a very small delay when you zoom to 10x while the image is loaded and displayed properly. People of other devices or marks may not even notice – I only did so because of the difference between him and my two other Canon DSLRs (the low-resolution sensors). The viewing angle LCD screen (how clearly you can see the screen on one side and top to bottom) is excellent, you can still see the screen holding the camera almost straight from a Plan dive (more on that later.) I believe the angle is about 160-170 degrees horizontally and vertically. The Digital Rebel has a separate status screen above the main LCD screen and the 30D is one on the top of the camera, so I do not know if I went to that big LCD screen repair and no top screen only. I am happy to say that system works well, at least for me. The rear is really easy to take all the parameters at a glance. The viewfinder is much bigger and brighter than the Digital Rebel. A hugely welcome feature for me is always the displayed value of the ISO in the viewfinder. The camera is only half the equation of image quality, the other lens is inserted. Coupled with my favorite lens, the objective Canon EF 70-200mm f / 4 L telephoto lens, rotates images xsi fantastic. The supplied kit lens is very light and compact for an optical image stabilizer, and is a good performance. It’s certainly very useful . Two features that are missing from the Digital Rebels and found to be used in more expensive digital SLRs are now in the xsi star of the day: spot metering and flash exposure compensation (can be found in the previous Digital Rebel model, the XTi, and disposition). Inclusion of these two features make the device much more complete and compelling photographic tool. Timer function is now a custom mode, it would be expected in the next 10 seconds, then take a series of shots (specified by you) in succession. No more running back and forth to reset the meter after each shot, there is also the timer traditional two seconds. Let’s for a minute about the sensor and ISO sensitivity. XSi/450D about five ISO values you can choose: 100 (best film), 200, 400, 800 and 1600. higher the ISO the camera sensor to light increased, so that you can access quickly closing time speeed certain lighting conditions. But the trade off, the sensor “noise” (a particle think for film photography) increases with higher ISO, so you are a degraded image quality in return for less blurring from hand shakes (thanks to faster shutter speed). This can be useful in situations where flash photography is not allowed is as a museum or theater and concerts. However, from point-and-shoot digital cameras, ie more sensors of digital SLRs, including XSI, that even at ISO 800 and 1600 you get a very usable right out of the camera. Run Footage ISO settings for any number of software noise reduction third will improve further. This is another very useful feature of XSi / 450D makes life easier for the photographer: The Auto-ISO. By default, the Auto ISO ISO (sensor sensitivity to light) of 100-800 (with the help of user-defined functions, this can be changed to 200-1600). For example, shooting your kid’s basketball game inside, and you know you have a shutter speed of at least need 1 / 200 to freeze dry “action, you can connect the camera to the TV (Shutter Priority) and set the value to 1 / 200, and the camera at ISO Auto. Then the opening device and a comparison with ISO for correct exposure at that shutter speed. With my other DSLRs, setting the camera to shutter priority only allowed the camera to set the aperture, the ISO setting should be set manually. XSi/450D With the ability to customize the camera to the ISO value automatically makes one less thing to worry about the photographer for you. I have only tested the Live View function to see how it works, but I can already see how it is worth Studio macro shots. Just a note, you can not half-press the shutter to autofocus while in Live View mode. You can focus either manually or use one of two methods of autofocus, fast (the mirror functions, the LCD goes dark for a short time, and turns with the focus locked) or live ( The camera uses contrast detection of the LCD to the objective – this method is slower than the quick method), both by pressing the exposure lock (*), while in Live View mode. either the RS-60E3 wired remote or RC-1 wireless remote in Live View mode is only triggered the shutter speed, and no effect on the concentration. Some people seem under the impression that the inclusion of Live View function, using it will allow them to XSi/450D point-and-shoot digital cameras to do to compose their shots. This is not the case. It is not really an operation using the Live View when the camera mounted on a tripod or on a flat surface. focus both Live View modes, precise while, too slow to be used to take pictures hand. Otherwise, there use to estimate the hand of Live View shooting, where I come from. trigger when shooting overhead or over an obstacle, I can with the hand holding the camera even in Live View to compose the scene through the LCD screen (even if it is loose it is easy to find the right overall design) turn off Live View, and take the photo in the rule. With a little practice, this can be very fast. be carried out very convenient if you take the aerial camera and hope for the best. The direct print button, which for far too ridiculous and, in most Canon cameras now twice as maligned as the button menu white balance. The button located in the center of the arrow keys to four-way for a number of different functions can be programmed: Change image quality, exposure compensation, flash, LCD on / off (like the display button but can by the same hand holding the camera) and display the menu (here, can be triggered by activation of the same hand with the camera). There is a dedicated ISO button, which is also welcome. It will be readily accessible during the shoot with his right thumb in order to shoot to minimize disruption. The battery life seems very good. I have over 500 + recordings on a single charge and the status monitor displays always at full load. I’m with Transcend 8GB Class 6 SDHC card. ISO 100, tells the camera to 396 RAW + JPG (highest quality) on it, but may take in reality it probably fit about 420-450 (the camera is always conservative estimate). With RAW, it can adapt 507th JPG high quality, it can accommodate 1822. Please note that ISO also increases the size of files so you can store less images per card. For example, ISO 1600, the same can be only 323, compared with 396-100 ISO My only complaint, and it’s more about me than the camera, the RAW + JPG buffer. I always RAW + JPG, and the buffer can contain only four images at that speed (this is a limitation that is in the system installed the camera buffer memory, and therefore with a fast memory card does not – see p. 64 of handbook). If the buffer is full, you can have two more images on an image to a second, then, until the empty buffer (finishes writing to wait on the memory card). When shooting RAW is that it’s 6 images. When shooting JPG only, there is no problem for more than 50 frames. I found myself switching the mode selector sport when I’m recording a fast-moving subject and the buffer simply can not keep up. Well, that’s why Canon produces different categories ranging from digital SLRs. I have uploaded some photos I shot the local wildlife. Most, if not all of them were taken with the EF 70-200mm f / 4 L. Overall, it is a fantastic camera. It’s really amazing how far digital SLRs have entry-level in a few years ahead in terms of functionality, interface, ergonomics and quality. I am very satisfied with my purchase and want to have fun taking pictures with him.
great camera, amazing battery life, now is the perfect price! Xsi I was for about three months now and I am impressed by the substance. This is my first SLR and I was going to be a bit cautious with a brand new camera and untested, but I always like Canon (I used an ELAN II in high school and I bought a SD600 About 2 years ago, my son snapshots). Overall, I’m not with the quality of photos that have been disappointed that produces xsi. The IS lens works very well and I took pictures quite surprising (to me at least). I have a few questions, both looking good and bad, I think those who want to buy can know. Battery life – Great battery life. I would say the battery life amazing. I took over 5000 pictures and I had to charge the battery twice. Live View – LiveView is not for beginners. There is no substitute for your point-and-shoot. You can not enter the AUTO mode (green square). It is not that much to me, I prefer full manual myself, but the whole point of this feature, I thought it was more convenient for photographers Point-and-shoot. My wife can not use Live View in its current form (I specifically bought a DSLR with Live View function, so they can go with the camera). So, if Live View is a big plus for you, you can see a few others (if it is not that big deal for you, then this is another incredible camera added – 23/04/2008). If you work in the studio, but you can connect the device to your PC and use it as a remote viewer. But this is not a point-and-shoot camera in Live View mode. In my previous post, I said it would be nice if some of the Live View Canon Fixed a problem with a firmware update, I was wrong. Live View is a nice feature when you imagine it is not for beginners. Studio and landscape photographers will find Live View a great tool. Picture quality – I have had great success in a studio shooting and creating great pictures outdoors. In the studio, I have “hot” with tungsten lights subjuect on a white background. The pictures turned out great. Skin tones are perfect and there is very little, if any, chromatic aberration on the edges. It takes great outdoor portraits. We just beekeeping and I could get some amazing images of our bees close to the open air. The bees looked dirty and not very interesting from a distance, but the macro photos I was in the area are beautiful and full of juicy details to perfection. The lens is a bit too short, the picture quality you draw is very good because it only costs $ 100. I plan to buy more than one goal in the near future. Overall, the unit is solid and comfortable in the hand nicely. It is not too hard, but feels solid. If you can afford the higher price, I do not think you’ll be disappointed. If you can not, the XTi is still a great camera. And if you can afford to wait several months for the price a bit (as is already falling! Dignity) I. I was able to work some weekends so I can afford to get it, and I can tell you, I do not mind a bit, because the quality of the photos I get worthwhile. — Update — I misspoke when I said you could not with the 9-point autofocus in Live View mode. You can use the 9-point autofocus while in Live View, but the mirror flips down and focuses so you can not see what you actually try to go with the camera until the process AF. — Update # 2 — I now have this camera almost two months and I am pleased to announce that the more I use it, the more I love it. Once you get to know the configuration of the camera and download the MyMenu with the tools you use most often, the camera is an absolute pleasure to use. I took over 5000 pictures with it so far and now I need an external hard drive to put them all. I could rent a Canon EF 24-105 L lens and Speedlite 580 EX II IS for the wedding of my sister. WOW What great pictures. The camera is connected properly with the flash and I am more than ever that the quality of your photos very confident coming out of the glass you use and not so much by the device itself (I think that is about 65 % to 35% of the camera lens to give or take a few points – I know there are those who disagree, but my take on it, and I’m sure if I have a 1Ds MKIII, I think that it is not a piece of glass My camera was enough). This is a great beginner digital SLR camera and a great all around. I am very happy with my purchase and I regret nothing at all to spend the $ 900 necessary to buy a great tool. Amazon now sells for $ 799, you can not go wrong at this price!
Wonderful camera! This camera is impossible to beat at this price. I will not write a review, but can this unit in the fully automatic mode and give it to a “point and shoot” person, and they will achieve excellent results. For amateur photographers, which has all the bells and whistles, what I like, I can reset the camera rapidly multiple planes of the same scene in very different contexts. Married to a decent photo program on your computer, it is possible to get professional results. Many say that the comments, get this to stabilize the lens. . . . I totally agree. . . is the extra $ 100 a price in exchange for this purpose. . . It is almost (and I say almost) like a tripod. I have the camera shots for 1/10th second without support, and continuous images obtained with its slower than this, and stabilization is not quite correct to doubt. We buy it again in a heartbeat, and I wish I could get one for all I know! Best picture I’ve ever done and fun to use! Connecting to the computer and downloading photos takes a few seconds. Get the largest SD card you can afford. . . We have a 2 GB card and it fills very quickly. 1GB is too small for this camera (is mainly because you take too many pictures with him, not because the images take a lot of memory), 4GB I suppose to be perfect (or secure a couple of Cards 2 GB, 4 GB, but one is, the cards are easy to install).
