I bought this product as a gift for me for Christmas as 18-55 kit. I have a lot of P & S cameras – Casio, Canon, Nikon, etc. possession, but decided it was finally time to upgrade to digital SLR – and affordable. I have over 500 pictures – taken with a flash, with manual, automatic mode, almost everything already. The camera – to build very solid. I read some reviews that criticize the use of plastic and metal have been, but I really think plastic is great. I’m sure it would be a strong drop in all cases, damage, but the plastic feels very well and does not flex in the body in general. Each compartment opens and closes tightly and with some resistance, which gives a very stable way. The keys feel good press at all. The shutter feels very robust and has great feedback when you press it. The camera is a good size for me. I’m taller than average, but no giant, and my hands are pretty well sized and the small body on this unit (compared to 40, 50 D, etc.) feels good. My only complaint is sometimes the fatigue that I in my right little finger from the grip of the camera. I’m sure in the coming weeks I will work as I experiment with new ways to hold the camera more comfortable. Overall, the unit is sturdy and feels very well made. Features – very widespread. I have a Canon G9, which is already a fairly complete set of features, but the ultimate manual controls for Canon Rebel XSi just makes me feel a lot more to this unit. The auto mode seems to work. I’m not experienced with more or breeders DSLR, so this method seems to me – autofocus, flash and everything. In manual mode for ultimate control over almost everything. I love the night, shots and long exposure to the Canon Rebel XSi allows up to 30 seconds of exposure, or a bulb function. The results are very much out of the box, although I post with some of the granularity that results can be safely removed for me. Features – The images are crystal clear in my kit lens G9 report. Although both 12MP, the Canon Rebel XSi is a harvest of 100% is much clearer. I do not worry much about zooming in so I can – to know that I am able to reap a larger, more the image of the future, if I want. The flash is adequate and has a very fast refresh time. I also have a Canon 220EX, which is a bit more powerful (but not much), but have much faster refresh. In burst mode is the Canon Rebel XSi, I take twice as long and 1 5x faster with the 220EX, which could really be useful. I would like to invest in an external flash, but built for shooting all day in his fine. The autofocus is fast since my experience is fairly accurate. It is much faster than the G9, even in low light. Low light does slow down a bit, but not bad. Lens Kit (18-55) – As stated this is my first SLR, I do not have much knowledge of lenses, but that is very good, not have been great. The zoom is fairly simple – at least from my point of departure G9, but a wider angle, what I most useful. I will probably at some point a Canon zoom invest more, but for now, it’s fine if you start it. This is a fast lens and image stabilization seems to help, I can not quite on this report. I miss the emphasis on manual focus ring roads around (to infinity, etc.), it is sometimes confusing to see how far I have to concentrate. Overall a good lens and worth the price of the kit, if you are a beginner. Battery – The battery is great. I took almost 600 pictures on the first full charge, however, many of which have been flash and the battery is only a step down. Obviously, this goes over time, but it looks great. Complaints: 1 Body size is good, but takes a little getting used to. was not really a complaint, but only say it will take some time to find a form completely comfortable. Second live view sucks. I like a bullet in the eye piece, but only with Live View for pleasure, there is confusion, and the slow and bad. If you have a tripod, it will be allowed to buy, but otherwise, this camera if you MUST Live View. I wanted to have the Canon Rebel XSi, because he has seen live, but now I feel much better with the eye. It is good to know, live view is when I need it, but I can not really see me having more than 1-2% of the time. 3rd battery compartment cover to open almost impossible. I do not know why – he could say anything, but I think it’s the way it is designed. I have to use a pencil or butter knife next to my fingers to open and the film’s release. The absence of a fourth video camera – I know, I know – its a reflex. But I saw Ashton Kutcher say ad for Nikon, with its HD video mode, and I, it would be cool to have you here. I feel on the 500D or whatever the new Canon Rebel always be installed. But I want this, it was.
