The results I get with the 50d far outshine that of the 30d, but I can not tell you why. Not an expert. I only know one can not just price and the 28-135mm lens produces beautiful photographs. I like to pull out all the way, setting the camera on AV mode at 5 6 and always so beautiful blurred background with my subject in focus. I have two friends with the 30D and they both have found my camera highly desirable. An attractive quality that you see all the settings, if you look in the viewfinder, so you can make adjustments while you are framing up a shot. I can not wait to really learn the camera. The manual is okay, but I always prefer to lead the field.
